I was sent by my previous employer to close down the Youth Centres when Gavin discovered me. He listened to my story and promised me that he would keep the Youth Centres open. I had a distinct mistrust of people, and fear followed me. My past preceded me. I didn’t know who to believe.

My heart’s desire is to help children. I want to show children that their past does not have to determine their future. Gavin has this same heart, and this is why his spirit is felt within the Youth Centres.

What I have gained working at Bosasa cannot be found anywhere else in life – no degree can teach you the life skills and lessons that have come from my experiences here.

We are taught to have a true belief in people’s possibilities and we believe in empowering people. We aim to produce well-rounded people: made whole at all levels (spiritually, mentally, and economically). We feel like we are his children, he is our leader and we follow him and trust that he knows which way to lead us; he listens to God. We can trust him because we know that he trusts God. It is easy to follow someone who leads with a shepherd’s heart. He guides us, but at the same time ensures that we will never fail.

I have gained wholeness in my life. I have been taught to forgive those who wronged me in my past. I can believe in people again and want people to believe in themselves.
